Job Purpose

Responsible for supervising and monitoring the financial performance indicators of the companies.

Job Responsibilities

Plan, direct and control financial, human resources and administrative functions for the municipality by following municipal policies and procedures and in accordance with Federal and Territorial legislation.

Coordinate with the finance department, including treasury, budgeting & forecasting, financial reporting and acquisition related work. Additionally, a substantial portion of this role.

Provide support to Operations group, through information analyses (e.g. current processes, actual performance vs. budget and prior year, budget, etc.

Prepare the operational data/analyses for publication to various constituents throughout company (Management, Sales, Product Management, Operations, etc.) who rely on/benefit from the information to make informed business decisions.

Participate with the product management and procurement team in identifying the financial impact of reductions in the product cost, new product etc., and preparing periodical forecasts to inform the management of the expected results.

Manage monthly closing process, including reconciliations and analysis of related accounts.

Research and resolve accounting issues including evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements to ensure US GAAP and IAS compliance.

Coordinate the Company's annual audit with the independent auditors.

 Maintain and strengthen internal controls over financial reporting.

Manage the preparation of all income Tax matters included in the company's financial statements, footnotes, press releases, and other public documents.

Manage the Tax Department's processes regarding timely recognition of period specific income Tax matters including Tax law changes, valuation allowance changes, and changes to income Tax estimates.

Take a lead role in providing technical expertise on accounting for income Taxes and legal entity accounting.

Forecast cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment.

Ensure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements.

Use hedging to mitigate financial risks related to the interest rates on the company's borrowings, as well as on its foreign exchange positions.

Job Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Commerce.

1-2 years of experience in a relevant field.

In-depth understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Familiarity with financial accounting statements.

Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process.

Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, like FreshBooks and QuickBooks.

Advanced MS Excel skills.

Fluent English Speaker.

Awareness of business trends.

Accuracy and attention to detail.

Familiarity with office technology and equipment.
